This first song, II Remember, is the latest from Electronic duo Maribou State. It's taken from their third album Hallucination Love. A combination of anxiety, chronic insomnia and a serious brain condition known as chiari malformation helped shaped the sound of this album and hence this track. A laid back vibe with some gorgeous vocals.
To pair with this I've chosen Ring of past by Men I Trust. The video for this song uses footage from a short 1979 film called "Canada Vignettes: Love on Wheels" put out by the National Film Board of Canada. The plot of the original film revolves around a young Canadian boy and a French girl who spot each other at the roller disco. She is a confident roller skater and he's not. At first he just watches her from the side then summons up the courage to enter the rink himself in the hope of skating with her, falling over lots of times during the process.
The original film was set to very different music which had a very literal way of telling the story with the lyrics leaving no mystery around what the song was about. It's amazing how different it is to the Men I Trust song.
My favourite part is at around 2min 30secs where they've cut the video to tie in beautifully with a part of the song.
